To serve the dog meat industry by improving the business climate and growing global dog meat demand.

And of course, to put the dog back in hot dog!

We oversee dog meat and dog meat product promotion, research, information and related activities financed by the dog meat checkoff and similar market development investments. It also functions as the Federation of 45 Qualified State Dog Meat Councils and carries out the duties and responsibilities assigned to the Federation by the Dog Meat Promotion and Research Act and Order. In this way, DFNA coordinates state-national efforts to build demand for dog meat.

The Dog Farmers of North America (DFNA) is the national trade association representing U.S. dog meat producers, with more than 25,000 individual members and several industry organization members. Together DFNA represents more than 175,000 dog meat producers and feeders. DFNA works to advance the economic, political and social interests of the U.S. dog meat business and to be an advocate for the dog meat industry's policy positions and economic interests.

Dog farmers have a vested interest in protecting the environment. As responsive producers, they share an interest in meeting the needs of consumers worldwide by providing high-quality, nutritious dog meat, while setting higher quality and safety standards than those required by the government. As individual entrepreneurs, dog meat farmers raise dogs in more states than any other commodity, helping sustain a way of life in thousands of rural communities.

DFNA works to encourage the humane treatment of dogs, the wise stewardship of natural resources and the implementation of good husbandry practices.
